Do you want to keep your eyes healthy? Do your want to protect
your children’s eyesight from early on?
As an optometrist for 20 years, I’ve had the opportunity to see
many of the conditions I’m going to talk about in this
presentation. I will be showing what the ocular pathologies look
like and will be discussing how they affect the eye and how they
are treated. After this presentation, I hope you understand that
many ocular conditions, from minor to severe, have similar
appearances, but can have significantly different outcomes,
especially if not treated properly. The eye is a wondrous organ
and we at Alcon are doing everything in our power to help
preserve and protect sight.
Dr. Mike Christensen is currently an Associate Director of Dry
Eye Clinical Research at Alcon Laboratories, Inc and Director of
Alcon’s in-house Research Clinic. He received his O.D. degree
at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry
in 1989 and joined Alcon in 1990 as a Research Optometrist.
Dr. Christensen’s research has focused primarily in Consumer
Products and over the years has worked with both Contact Lens
Care and Dry Eye products. Prior to entering the optometry
program at NSU, he earned M.S. (University of Oklahoma) and
Ph.D. (Mississippi State University) degrees in Zoology and
taught college level biology classes at Phillips University in Enid
Oklahoma from 1978-1985. Dr. Christensen has numerous
publications and has spoken at both local and national meetings.
