Join Los Angeles based authors Dana Johnson and Paula Priamos for a reading and discussion of their debut works about Coming of Age in California, family ties, and the things that make and break us:
Elsewhere, California by Dana Johnson and The Shyster's Daughter by Paula Priamos.
"In her gripping, big-hearted, and sometimes harrowing memoir Priamos proves herself to be not only a keen observer of the ways we love and bear loss, but also a first-rate storyteller." --Will Allison, author of the New York Times Bestseller Long Drive Home and What You Have Left
"[Elsewhere, California] exhibits Johnson's fearlessness. She goes deeply into territory often simplified or sidestepped entirely--the limbo of elusive identity, not just questioning what "blackness" is but "whiteness"--and otherness--and all that lies beneath it." --Los Angeles Times
