Celebrate spring with a traditional Colonial May Fair held at Pottsgrove Manor on Saturday, May 7th. This year’s fair will open with a special public ceremony at 11:00 a.m., where representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will officially turn over this important historic property to the Montgomery County Commissioners.
The Colonial May Fair at Pottsgrove Manor, scheduled to run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., is a fun-filled day with activities for all ages—games, music, dancing, and lots more. Signora Bella will perform juggling, “slack-rope walking,” and other acrobatic feats; Tuckers’ Tales Puppet Theatre will provide period music around the grounds and perform puppet shows; and the Tapestry Historic Dancers will lead visitors in dances around the Maypole and demonstrate authentic country dances throughout the day.
In addition to the entertainment, a number of colonial crafters and demonstrators will be on hand to display historic skills and trades and sell their wares. Deborah Peterson of Deborah Peterson’s Pantry will be cooking in the Pottsgrove Manor kitchen and selling hard-to-find colonial foods. Young visitors can meet colonial farm animals, compete in hoop races, play with colonial toys and games, and more!
