9:45--Overlooked Astoria--John Goodenberger--Explore little-noticed cultural artifacts and hear the story of buildings and places not mentioned in typical tourist brochures. John's lecture will touch on abandoned ship hulls, unmarked cemeteries, rare manhole covers and a lost Chinese garden...all within Astoria's city limits. 11:00--Hydrographic Surveys on the Lower Columbia River--Hollis Fletcher--Hollis Fletcher will give a brief discussion of the history of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Oregon and their survey mission at the Mouth of the Columbia River.
