Beginning Thursday, May 19, 2011, the historic neighborhood of Columbia City will host a new monthly artwalk event, Bohemian Backstreets. The artwalk will take place every third Thursday from May through September, and will feature unique works from artists around the Puget Sound region.
Columbia City’s Bohemian Backstreets art walk is the inaugural program for Community Arts Create (CAC) – a nonprofit located in Southeast Seattle. CAC is dedicated to developing community programs and opportunities that emphasize art’s ability to create and sustain healthy, vibrant and connected communities and neighborhoods.
A fun and safe event, Bohemian Backstreets invites people from across Seattle and the surrounding areas to visit Columbia City and experience art in one of the most historic and culturally diverse neighborhoods in the United States.
Beyond traditional visual arts, the Columbia City art walk will also offer participants the opportunity to enjoy and experience the sounds, feelings, scents and tastes of artistic creation as it is expressed through music, performance, spoken word, dance, and food. Additionally, being hosted in Columbia City, the art walk is just blocks walk from Link Light Rail’s Columbia City Station.
