Colorado Music Festival presents David Lockington and Orion Weiss July 22, 2010

An evening of symphonic power with guest conductor David Lockington (music director of the Modesto Symphony), pianist Orion Weiss, and the CMF Orchestra includes Sawyers’ “The Gale of Life,” Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, K467 (one of the greatest-piano-concertos-of-all-time not performed in last season’s mini-festival), and Mussorgsky/Ravel’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a favorite orchestral showpiece that intrigues listeners with colorful tone paintings, from its ambling “Promenade” to its massive finale, "The Great Gate of Kiev."
