Art Opening: COLOR

Stephen R Hill uses hot and cold, blue
and red colored oils painted on wood coated
with resin to create the piece Temperance.

Other works include oils, yarn, string, and
other various materials coated with resin on wood
blocks ranging from sizes 2x2 to 4x6 feet.

Additional works are created using oil on canvas.

Stephen R. Hill has painted nine canvas, 'Against such things there is no Law’,
in the traditional color field method. He has poignantly escalated the
implication of the compelling colors represented by 3 sequential
photographs of each canvas during the creation. Concurrently, symbolic
imagery has been painted, drawn and sometimes traced onto the canvas,
photographed, and painted over thus adding to the canvas 'layers' of
meaning and charge. The end result is a conspicuous unambiguous field of color.
