Colony is a collective jazz project comprised of five jazz musicians at the Manhattan School of Music, formed by junior pianist Angelo Di Loreto, in the hopes of creating a band that could be used as a vehicle for original composition and finding a sound in today's jazz world. All the band members were born in one of the country's original 13 colonial states, hence the name "Colony." The group has performed extensively throughout New York City since April 2010 and has drawn the attention of many fellow peers and professionals alike.
