Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold College Information Nights at the Gulfport WIN Center on Monday, April 20, 4–7 p.m., and at the Pascagoula WIN Center on Thursday, April 23, 4 –7 p.m. These events will help individuals who work during the day to complete an application for admission, choose college classes and apply for financial aid.
College Information Nights are part of the college’s 10,000 Strong recruitment campaign. This campaign includes stronger follow-up measures to insure that those who apply for admission are given the help they need to enroll and to remain students at Gulf Coast. It also includes a new way to get an associate’s degree by taking evening, online and weekend classes. The Jackson County Campus in Gautier has established additional scholarships for students who apply for financial aid.
If you plan to apply for federal financial aid at one of the College Information Nights, you need to also apply for a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov prior to the event. Bring that number to College Information Night, along with your driver’s license; Social Security number; W-2 forms and other records of income earned in 2008 (yours and your parents’, or spouse’s if you are married); 2008 income-tax return (yours and your parents’, or spouse’s if student is married). If applicable, you will also need to provide your parents’ Social Security numbers and dates of birth; record of untaxed income (Social Security benefits, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Welfare, VA Benefits); and the value of bank accounts (checking and savings accounts), investments, business and farm assets.
