The Colburn Chamber Music Society brings together renowned guest artists, distinguished faculty members and outstanding young musicians from the Colburn Conservatory of Music.
Following her debut as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, Bonnie Hampton perfomed all the standard and many 20th-century cello concertos with orchestras nationally. She was a founding member of the Naumburg Award-winning Francesco Trio and performed as part of Hampton-Schwartz Duo. Ms. Hampton has worked with many composers, including Carter, Copland, Dallapiccola, Harbison, Imbrie, Kim, Kichner, Kodaly, Milhaud, Powell, and Shifrin. She has had appearances as guest artist with the Juilliard, Guarneri, Cleveland, Mendelssohn, Alexander, Budapest, and Griller String Quartets and festival appearances at Casals, Marlboro, Chamber Music West, Seattle, Ravinia, Santa Fe, Yellow Barn, Kneisel Hall. Since 2003, she has been cello faculty at the Juilliard school and was also cello faculty at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Mills College, Grinnell College, Stanford U., and U. of California (Berkeley).
Music critic Alan Rich sums up Colburn Chamber Music Society as, "an excellent series of Sunday afternoon Chamber concerts at Zipper, nicely organized by Colburn, free to the public and mostly jam-packed."
