Travis (Harry Dean Stanton) has been missing for years when he suddenly reconnects with his brother, who has been raising Travis' son as his own. Travis tries to forge a new relationship with the seven-year old boy, but rebuilding a family proves more difficult than Travis would like. A poignant screenplay by Sam Shepard and an evocative use of the American landscape by cinematographer Robby Muller make this one of Wenders' most moving and acclaimed films.
