Chamber Music Northwest's newly launched "Protégé Project" brings some of the fastest-rising artists on the international chamber music scene to Portland this June and July, complementing its signature renowned summer festival with a cutting-edge Sunday series for folks who prefer their chamber music both neighborhood-casual and first-rate. Bringing together all thirteen Protégé artists–they've collectively performed with a veritable who's-who of avant-garde classical ensembles–yields a broad supply of potential ensemble permutations, which is exactly what CMNW does tonight in gathering a full complement of strings and woodwinds, plus a piano and a few extra fiddles to round it out. The program features music by Beethoven, Bartók and Berio.
