Chamber Music Northwest's newly launched "Protégé Project" brings some of the fastest-rising artists on the international chamber music scene to Portland this June and July, complementing its signature renowned summer festival with a cutting-edge Sunday series for folks who prefer their chamber music both neighborhood-casual and first-rate. Initiating the series is the Jasper Quartet, whose musical dynamicism and lofty achievements echo the spectacular landscape of the northern national park for which it was named. Currently Graduate-Quartet-in-Residence at Yale School of Music, it's no accident the Jaspers have snatched up prizes at no fewer than half a dozen chamber music competitions over the past few years. The program includes music by Haydn, Schumann and Webern, and is emceed by the Quartet. All ages.
