To recognize the contributions made by companies in the IT, Telecom, Entertainment and Software Sector to the Nation, CMAI Association of India announces National Telecom Awards every year.

The first National Telecom Awards were presented in the year 2007 by Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, the then Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications & IT followed by Thiru A Raja, Hon’ble Union Minister for Communications and IT in 2008. The 2009 awards were presented by Shri Gurudas Kamat, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications IT. The 2010 National Telecom Awards were presented by Shri Kariya Munda, Dy Speaker Lok Sabha, Shri Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Vincent Pala, Minister of State for Water Resources, Dr. J S Sarma, Chairman T R A I, Shri P J Thomas, the then Secretary Telecom and Chairman Telecom Commission. The event had full support of all the Telecom, IT and National Apex Trade Promotion bodies like PHDCCI, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, IEEE, CTO, COAI, AUSPI, ISPAI, ACTO, ITU-APT, IPTV FORUM, MAIT, CEHA, CEAMA, ELCINA, IPCA, ISA etc.

The award jury committee consist of a 21 member team led by Former Secretary and Chairman Telecom Commission and include former and serving officials from Ministry of Law and Justice, Commerce, Communications & IT. Knowledge Partners were Mazars from France.

The 5th National Telecom Awards are scheduled to be held on 17th May, 2011 on the occasion of World Telecom Day at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The awards would presented by Shri K Rehman Khan, Hon’ble Dy Chairman, Rajya Sabha has kindly consented to give away the awards. Shri Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Communications & IT, Shri Gurudas Kamath, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications & IT, Shri Sachin Pilot, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications & IT, Shri R Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Telecom, Dr. J S Sarma, Chairman TRAI have been invited to give away the awards. Shri Saugata Roy, Hon’ble Minister of State for Urban Development, Shri Vincent Pala, Hon’ble Minister of State for Water Resources have also confirmed to give away the awards.
