Piedmont Arts will honor the 2009 recipients of the Clyde Hooker Award on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 5:30 PM in the Piedmont Arts atrium. The Clyde Hooker Award was established in 2003 to recognize individuals and businesses in Martinsville and Henry County who have made significant contributions to the arts and culture in our area. The award is named in honor of Clyde Hooker, for his generous support of the arts. This year’s recipients are Pat Featherstun and Arovik Sings.
During the reception, Piedmont Arts will also present the 2009 Arts in Education Award, given annually to educators who demonstrate an outstanding effort to bring their classes to Piedmont Arts as well as to bring Piedmont Arts into their classrooms. The recipients of the 2009 Harold Knowlton Work Memorial Scholarship, given to rising college juniors and seniors and the Nicodemus D. Hufford Memorial Scholarship, given to graduating high school seniors will also be named.
