The United Nations University Office in New York is organizing a discussion as a part of the Current Affairs Series entitled "Climate Change: Between Trust and Trade” with Dr. William J. Antholis, Managing Director of Brookings Institution.
Has Copenhagen failed? What’s next? William J. Antholis, Managing Director of Brookings Institution, will discuss the key elements which will lead towards a successful global climate agreement. As Dr. Antholis notes in his article, the pivotal issue of global climate negotiation is trust. Dr. Antholis also suggests that in order to build a successful global climate regime the leading nations can learn from the experience of how the global trading regime built confidence in a self-regulation system.
The United Nations University Office in New York (UNU-ONY) Current Affairs Series aims to address ongoing issues of relevance in the areas of international security, development and the environment. The goal is to bring up-to-date analysis on current events and crises by academics and policy makers who have firsthand knowledge and unique insights on the matters at hand. The programme's topics will also echo the items on the policy agenda of the UN and the UNU.
Dr. Jean-Marc Coicaud, Director of the UNU-ONY, will be moderating the event.
