About Speakers
Andrew Chung
Principal – Lightspeed Venture Partners

Andrew joined Lightspeed in 2006 and focuses on investments in cleantech, Internet and software. Andrew helps lead Lightspeed's investment efforts in cleantech and has been involved in completing Lightspeed's investments in Coaltek, Exclara, LS9, Mobius Power, MSP/Drilex, PCH, Serious Business, Solazyme and Stion.
Andrew chairs the Cleantech Advisory Board for The Indus Entrepreneurs Group (TiE), serves on the Advisory Board for Stanford Energy Crossroads, and is involved with the Clean Tech Open. Andrew has also testified before the Lieutenant Governor and California Commission for Economic Development on cleantech- and energy-related policy issues.
Prior to Lightspeed, Andrew worked at Bain Capital and TL Ventures, where he supported leveraged buyout and venture investments in software, semiconductors and healthcare. He also co-founded UberWorks, an e-commerce content aggregation software startup incubated at Trilogy, and directed product management at OnStation, a CRM software company. Prior to UberWorks, Andrew was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company in Greater China.
Andrew earned his BA in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Ash Kalra
Councilman of District 2 in SJ – SJ Mayor’s Office

Ash is the first Indian-American to be elected to the San José City Council. Council member Ash Kalra earned his seat in the November 4, 2008 election. He represents Council District 2, which is located in the Southern region of San José bordering Morgan Hill. Councilmember Kalra sits on the Community & Economic Development Committee, Association of Bay Area Governments Board, Federated Employees Retirement Board, and Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan Liaison Group. He is also a liaison to the Planning Commission, where he previously served for over 2 years prior to taking office. Ash serves on the Valley Transportation Authority Board for which he is a representative on the Caltrain and Capitol Corridor Boards.
Councilmember Kalra earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a law degree from Georgetown University. For 11 years, Ash Kalra worked as an attorney for the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office representing indigent clients in Drug Court prior to being elected. He has been a resident of San José for over 30 years and is proud to be the first Oak Grove High School graduate on the San José City Council.

Jeff Gigoux joined Mariah Power in June 2008 as Vice President of Business Development. His responsibilities include managing the external product development activities necessary to position Mariah Power as an industry and technology leader in the small wind market, including overseeing independent testing, product certifications and state rebate incentive programs. Jeff has more than 20 years of experience working in the Silicon Valley in a variety of marketing, product management and business development roles. Prior to joining Mariah Power, he worked for Procera Networks, Intel Corporation, Apple Computer and several start up ventures. Jeff holds a BA from the University of Colorado, and an MBA from Thunderbird, The School of Global Management.
Afshin Shaybani

Afshin Shaybani is the CEO and Founder of MeterVision, a Bay Area startup founded in 2009 working on Smart Metering solutions "Smartifying" legacy meters and gauges. Afshin has been involved in marketing and executive management of high tech companies since 1993 and is the founder of 3 startups. Most recently, he was the founder and VP of Marketing at MediaPhy, a fabless semiconductor company in the Mobile and HD TV fields. Afshin holds a MSEE from Texas A&M University and a BSEE from Sharif University of Technology.
