"In June, as many as a dozen species may burst their buds on a single day. No man can heed all of these anniversaries; no man can ignore all of them." ~ Aldo Leopold
We may not notice every single one of the plant species’ changes but what better way to observe the arrival of our summer season then by paddling on Lady Bird Lake or strolling along its shoreline while helping the environment? Join hundreds of volunteers as they have a rewarding morning searching high and low for every last bit of trash and getting to know other lake enthusiasts. Each cleanup will end with a prize for the most unusual object found during the cleanup.
After the cleanup join us for refreshing Jim Jim’s Italian Ice and a tour of a biofiltration pilot project near the lake with Lee Sherman of the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department. Lee will share information about storm water treatment and how projects throughout the city use plants as energy dissipators and filters. More information will be sent to volunteers (volunteers do not need to sign up for the field trip as well, just their cleanup site).
