Kim Seung-ho plays an optimistic Korean father- “Romance Papa” to his five children- who has always managed to support his family on a modest salary. But when he is laid off from work, he can't bear the shame of telling his family. When the children discover the news, they conspire to support the family without making their father lose face. Directed by Shin Sang-ok, A Romance Papa captures the economic and social uncertainty of post-War Korea with warmth and gentle humor. Join us on the third Thursday of each month for Classic Movie Night, which focuses on the tradition of critical realism in Korean cinema. The screenings are followed by a brief lecture and Q&A. Light refreshments will be served.
