This basic class introduces drawing, seeing and rendering skills. It covers space, mass, volume, perspective and the illusion of three-dimensions on a two-dimensional plane. With a review of drawing fundamentals, students use charcoal, pencil, rough newsprint and drawing paper. In the second half of the class, students are introduced to figure drawing with the use of a live, nude model. Instruction includes simple artists anatomy and proportion. Through individualized instruction, students learn to accurately observe and record what they see.
