On Wednesday, November 5, at 7:30 pm, the “Classical Rock Star” Joshua Roman debuts with CityMusic in the Schumann Cello Concerto. Trained at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Roman was the youngest principal ever to be appointed to a major orchestra, when he won the position at the Seattle Symphony. When not performing in or in front of a symphony orchestra, Joshua is likely to be found on the stage of a club, performing music as varied as jazz or rock, as well as chamber music or a solo sonata by Bach. His fearless pursuit of new challenges has led him to expand his horizons and embark full-time on his growing solo classical career. The concert, directed by CityMusic’s dynamic, prize-winning young Music Director James Gaffigan, also features Beethoven’s Symphony no. 2, and ballet music from Mozart’s opera Idomeneo.
