CityMusic Cleveland’s celebrated Music Director James Gaffigan leads the orchestra in a concert of three centuries of string music. The program features the well-known, such as Mozart’s “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” (A Little Nightmusic) and the “Verklärte Nacht” (Transfigured Night) by Arnold Schoenberg (when he was still writing in a Romantic style). In addition, there is the gorgeous, but little-known Intermezzo by Franz Schreker, the toast of every major European opera house at the turn of the 20th century, and Edward Grieg’s Erotik (from his Lyric Pieces).
