The Contemporary is thrilled to present the Second Annual City-Wide Open Studios Weekend on July 21 and 22, 2007. This event is FREE and open to the public, offering the St. Louis community the unique opportunity to experience art being created in many of St. Louis most diverse and energetic neighborhoods.
Open Studios is a weeklong celebration of local art beginning on July 17 with the opening of the Open Studios exhibition at the Contemporary. One piece of art work from each participating artist will be on display from July 17 through July 22.
Theres a preview party on July 17 from 5:30 - 9:30 pm, where you can meet other artists, see their work, and talk about yours. On July 21 and 22, the Open Studios Weekend begins with artist studios in St. Louis City, University City, and Maplewood opening to the public. An alternative space in Grand Center will house temporary studios for artists outside of these areas. All studios will be included on the official map produced by the Contemporary, which can be found on the web at www.OpenStudiosOnline.org .
A multi-media experience is being created through collaboration with KDHX. The Contemporary is partnering with KDHX to curate a music cd featuring local musicians. KDHX is also producing audio and video content for radio, television, and web featuring the Open Studios artists.
Then you can satiate your starving artist appetite at the Starving Artist BBQ on Sunday, July 22 from 4-8PM, after the weeklong celebration of St. Louiss local art scene. Free for participating artists and $10 for everyone else.
