City Harvest’s 19th annual An Evening of Practical Magic will be held on Tuesday, April 16th at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street). The evening will include cocktails and a silent auction at 6:30 pm, followed by a dinner and live auction at 7:30 pm. This year the event will honor acclaimed Chef Marc Murphy, chef and restaurant owner, Benchmarc Restaurants + Benchmarc Events, City Harvest Food Council and Board Member.
City Harvest’s An Evening of Practical Magic pays tribute to the efforts of individuals and organizations who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to help City Harvest feed New York’s hungry. The dinner will raise funds to support City Harvest’s work at a time when demand for emergency food continues to rise. It will be attended by City Harvest board members, celebrities, corporate leaders and longstanding supporters of the organization. The event will be hosted by Ted Allen, host of Food Network’s “Chopped”.
Last year’s event raised $2 million for City Harvest, attracted 550 guests, and honored Danny Meyer and the staff and chefs of Union Square Hospitality Group. Notable attendees included Kelly Rutherford, Matthew Settle, Leila Lopes, Miss Universe, and Alyssa Campanella, Miss USA as well as renowned culinary experts: Eric Ripert, Marc Murphy, Gail Simmons, Michael Anthony, Floyd Cardoz, Tracy Nieporent of Myriad Group, Oceana chef Ben Pollinger, cake designer Ron Ben-Israel, Donatella Arpaia, Ariane Daguin, Top Chef alum Kerry Heffernan and Chef David Burke. Also in attendance were prominent members of New York society, including: Heather Mnuchin, Nina Rennert Davidson, Lise & Michael Evans, Carola Jain, Stacy Hock, Dr. Joy Brown, and Governor David Paterson, among others.
