Flaws and holes can exist in BC and DR plans because of the failure to expect the unexpected, underestimation of the potential impact of incidents and their loss expectancy, and underrating the probability of problem occurrence. Since ill-conceived beliefs and overlooked issues often cause a project to fail, when preparing BC or DR plans or re-assessing existing ones these need to be addressed. It is not uncommon for organizations in a variety of sectors to undervalue the worth of having, let alone having relevant and current, BC and DR plans.
