Cinema Supper Club: A Cultural Kaleidoscope continues at the Legion of Honor with a screening of Carmen Jones (1954; 105 minutes) on April 10. On Thursday evenings at the Legion through May 8, enjoy after-hours access to Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990–2005, bistro favorites and drinks in the Legion Café, and a film in the historic Florence Gould Theater. “A Cultural Kaleidoscope” presents movies that reflect a spectrum of cultural events including theater, music, and dance. Carmen Jones, the modern adaptation of the Bizet opera Carmen, features new lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The film tells the story of Joe (Harry Belafonte), an army soldier who falls in love with Carmen (Dorothy Dandridge), a beautiful and seductive factory worker. For the spring series, the Legion Café introduces a newly expanded menu, and all items are available in both the café bar and dining room. The special exhibition and Museum Store are open until 9 pm.
Tickets are $20 ($10 Members) for the movie and special exhibition. For the special exhibition only, admission is $15 (Members are free). Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis and do not include the price of dinner or a dinner reservation. The first dinner seating is at 6 pm.
