Cinco de Mayo Celebration May 9, 2009

Bolingbrook Dental Care is proud to be a sponsor for the Westbrook Christian Church and Gente Unida Ministries Event! We invite you and your family for the Sixth Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration. It will be held on Saturday, May 9th from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center, 375 West Briarcliff Rd. It promises to be fun for the whole family, with food and music all day long. Some of the featured events include piñatas every hour and the famous Jalapeño eating contest. We will have concerts by great bands from the Chicago area. We will also conclude our Celebration with the amazing award winning Folklorico of Back of The Yards Dance Co.
Cinco de Mayo, The Fifth Of May, commemorates the Mexican army's victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is not, as many people think, Mexico’s Independence Day, which is actually September 16. Cinco de Mayo is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in Mexico, but it is becoming increasingly popular in the U.S., especially in areas with a significant Mexican population such as Bolingbrook . The festive spirit of the day is traditionally observed with food, folkloric dancing, music, and parades.
