Canadian film Auerelie Laflamme’s Diary by Christian Laurence makes its US premiere at Symphony Space. The title character feels different from everyone and suspects that she is an alien. Her endearing clumsiness positions her as a pitch-perfect, Canadian version of a Judy Blume character as she navigates her way around the strange conventions of planet Earth. Whenever Auerelie’s situation becomes unbearable, her imagination trails off into elaborate fantasy sequences.
