Like John Hammond and a handful of other musicians whose careers began in the 1960s blues revival, guitarist, singer and songwriter Chris Smither can take pride in the fact that he's been there since the beginning. This self-described "one-man band to the bone" uses mostly his blues guitar and his foot tapping to create memorable blues sounds. The Eilen Jewell Band is Boston's up-and-coming acoustic blues quartet. With strong country and folk influences, the group is composed of harmonica, guitar, drums and upright bass. The group is characterized by its soulful blend of original tunes and those of Howlin' Wolf, Hank Williams and Billie Holiday.
