Chris Beard is among the most incendiary young lions on the national blues scene. Beard is not unlike his contemporaries, Lucky Peterson and Bernard Allison as he is the son of a blues legend. Chris Beard may not be as high profile as Lucky Peterson and Bernard Allison but he is every bit as exciting on stage. Chris’ father, Joe Beard performed with the likes of Matt “Guitar” Murphy, B.B. King, Jimmy Reed, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, and Sonny Boy Williamson. The Beard home witnessed a steady stream of blues luminaries as house guests during Chris’ formative years. A young Chris Beard absorbed the musicianship and wild showmanship that is all but lost in the current generation of blues players. Chris brings his road-hardened band to the intimate confines of Smoken Joe’s BBQ in Brighton. Last time Chris Beard was at Smoken’ Joe’s, he spent a good portion of the set working the room, flirting with the ladies and ripping guitar near impossible guitar solos. He was the recipient of the 1999 Muddy Waters Award in the category of New Talent of the Year as well being nominated for a 1998 W.C. Handy Blues Award in the category of Best New Blues Artist. Don’t miss, this show will sell out.
Smoken Joe’s BBQ offers top notch Southern Cuisine and are dedicated to the promotion, education, and preservation of Southern culture through good down home cooking and lively entertainment. Advanced reservations are strongly suggested for this special show which will have two sets.Reservations Recommended
