Chirgilchin, this group of four virtuosic musicians hails from the Russian republic of Tuva, in southern Siberia. They are highly acclaimed for khoomei, a Tuvan style of throat-singing that produces two distinct pitches simultaneously. They will also play handmade traditional string instruments, including the igil and the byzaanchy. Their most recent CD Pictures of Tuva was released in 2008.
