Chinese New Year at National Bank - Richmond Hill February 12, 2013

Celebrate the Chinese New Year with the Richmond Hill community at a special event hosted by National Bank. National Bank is hosting a traditional celebration to ring in the Chinese New Year with its valued community members at its Richmond Hill branch. The festivity will honour Chinese culture by featuring traditional symbolism, including the handing out of red envelopes by the God of Wealth, the ceremonial lighting of lanterns, and a lively dragon dance in the street.

National Bank is a proud supporter of arts and culture within the communities in which it operates. Community members will gather at the National Bank Richmond Hill branch for drinks, hors d’oeuvres and activities for the whole family. Children will be given their own piggy banks, and the God of Wealth will be present to hand out gold coins sealed in traditional red envelopes. Red is a key component of the Chinese New Year, symbolizing good fortune and joy, and is also the bank’s signature colour.

At 7:00pm guests will gather outside the branch for a ceremonial lantern lighting, where glowing lanterns will be released into the sky. A traditional and entertaining dragon dance in the street will follow. Guests will also have a chance to win a mini iPod at the celebration.
