Children's Capoeira Angola Class September 30, 2008

Capoeira Angola is an excellent activity for children since it stimulates coordination, musicality, socialization, discipline, autonomy, and curiosity in relation to other cultures.

All children will learn about the history of Capoeira Angola, the movements and music related to this Afro Brazilian Martial Art/Tradition and some Portuguese language. Classes will be held in a fun and safe environment. At the end of the section (November 13th) we will have a performance for all parents, friends and family.

What is Capoeira Angola?
Capoeira Angola is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines acrobatics,
fighting, music, history and philosophy. Enslaved Africans brought the
movements of Capoeira Angola to Brazil, disguising the martial elements of Capoeira Angola by adding music and singing. After the abolition of slavery, Capoeira Angola continued to develop as an instrument of freedom and resistance. Today, Capoeira Angola groups flourish across Brazil and around the world.
