Child Bite is slowly readapting to the humid summer climate in Michigan after their trip to Alaska for the World Beard and Mustache Championships. You can track the time passed by monitoring how much facial hair has been removed from each band member. It goes little by little. Tonight, after a well-touted and -attended performance at Cityfest, Child Bite celebrates their final split 7" release of the summer. This one features Toronto's DD/MM/YYYY on the flip side. Prussia will also have a relatively new EP in tow, "Blessed Be, Yours Truly In Spirit & Soul". Of Prussia, Real Detroit Weekly says, "The local quartet enthusiastically delves into soulful pop and roots reggae, transposing a refreshing timelessness onto this nihilistic technological age, with Morrissey-esque sonnets sung in raspy Drifters-esque high-range vocals and Four Seasons melodic refrains, over bounce-to-groove Jamerson-inspired bass lines, with intricate and inventive percussion spawned from Talking Heads' art-punk take on the Afro-Cuban allure." Detour says: "Lightning Love is an Ann Arbor-area outfit with twee-pop songs in the vein of Glo-Worm or other 7"-friendly groups from the early 1990s. A bit of woe, a bit of sweet, some keys and some drinks. With some promo this could move millions at Target." True! $8 at the door gets you a free copy of this brand-spanking new 7" record.
