Chicks are sure to love this fab film and enjoy their girlfriends’ company at a cocktail reception on The Strand’s roof top terrace following the movie. A naïve young poet (Ewan McGregor) falls in love with a courtesan and Moulin Rouge cabaret star (Nicole Kidman) in this 2001 musical comedy/tragedy by Baz Luhrmann. The movie brilliantly features music that became popular in the mid to late 20th Century, long after 1899, the year the movie is set, including Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music," The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love, Madonna's "Like a Virgin," and “Roxanne” by the Police. The film won two Oscars for art direction and costume design as well as six other nods, including the first Best Picture nomination for a musical in 22 years. Organ pre-show at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $15 and include admission to the movie and one voucher for a glass of wine at the cocktail reception to follow.
