Chicago Sister Cities International Festival: Canadian band Kaya August 11, 2011

The 6th Annual Chicago Sister Cities International Festival will transform Daley Plaza into an international village filled with food, music, dance and merchants, August 8-12, 2011. With over 20 of Chicago’s Sister Cities represented, this festival truly highlights the diversity and international spirit that exists in the city.

On Thursday, August 11th at noon, Toronto band Kaya will perform at the festival. Kaya is a four-piece group that met at their local church. In June 2010, they formed Kaya, meaning "ABLE" in the group's mother language Filipino. The band's music has become an outlet and a connecting point of our simple thoughts and experiences towards complex circumstances. One critic wrote "Kaya’s music has been heard before, but it feels like you’re hearing it for the first time all over again”.
