Intersections define cities-streets, cultures, ideas and architecture come together and visually communicate cultural history and stimulate new ideas. Chicago's downtown intersections are at the core of the city's vibrancy. This walking tour introduces architecture and public art from 1871 to the present, and looks at how buildings fit into the context of the city. Highlights include five street intersections: Michigan and Adams, Dearborn and Adams, Clark and Randolph, State and Randolph and Michigan and Randolph; and five architectural styles: Chicago School, Beaux Arts, Modernism, Post Modernism, and Deconstructionist. Features of classic Chicago buildings, including the Marquette Building, Federal Center, Daley Center, Thompson Center and the landmark Reliance Building are examined during the tour.

NEW YEAR'S EVE OPEN MIC AT THE UTAH! Yes, it's on. Here's how it's going to work.
8pm-10:20ish: Open mic, just like usual, drawing at 7:50, one song per act, it's all recorded, all that stuff. 21+, no cover.
10:30pm: New Year's Eve Party/Show featuring 3 acts well known to the open mic scene.
10:30: GARDEN PARTY (featuring Girl Named T and Carla Selvin)
11:20: THE DULL RICHARDS (featuring Reese, Josh Beemish, Olivia Clayton, Brendan Getzell & Adam Thompson)
MIDNIGHT!
12:20am: ELEGANT TRASH (Lee Austin Hoffman and friends, including Emu on drums and Matt Cascardi on bass)
Complimentary champagne, noisemakers, other decorations, all that crap, will be part of your celebration. :)
Open mic: Free
Party/Show: $8... BUT if you come to the open mic before, you can get on the guest list for the party.
I'll try to blast some music between sets you can dance to.
