This is the second in a series of Chicago Eco Edventures for high school students, meant to combine education and recreation as participants enjoy the beauty of nature and the excitement of a new adventure. Nature Museum educators will assist participants in gaining meaningful insight about the local environment, culture, and natural history of the Chicagoland area. Experience a local farm to discover where our food comes from and what it takes to get it from the farm to the table. Learn why it protects our environment to eat locally. Meet with the farmer who will give a tour and answer our questions about being a locavore. Learn about four season farming, hoophouses, organic growing, composting, heirloom varieties and more. Lunch, transportation, entrance fees, workshop, and guided tours are included with the cost of the program. Cost: $50/participant. For registration and more information about Chicago Eco Edventures, please visit www.naturemuseum.org and click on "Youth and Community Programs."
