Join us for coffee and a discussion of the challenges and solutions to participation in the legislative process. We'll introduce Knowledge As Power (KAP), a new online legislation tracking service based in Washington State. KAP is a 501(c)3 organization providing non-partisan legislative information free to individuals. Their services are quickly gearing up to expand to other states, such as California, and cities like Seattle.
Knowledge As Power's executive director, Sarah Schacht, will give a brief overview of the challenges to participation facing citizens and organizations, and some surprising reasons why email is killing civic participation in the legislative process.
A demo of Knowledge As Power will be shared with the group. You'll be the first to see KAP in action, viewing its robust set of tools and unusual structure geared to help citizens and legislators work more effectively together.
Please RSVP prior to the event, though drop-bys are fine, too.
