Chestnut Hill College will show the award-winning documentary A Walk to Beautiful on Thursday, April 4 at 4 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall.
Set in Ethiopia, the film tells the personal stories of rural women who travel to Addis Ababa, the country’s capital, for treatment for obstetric fistula, a life-shattering complication of childbirth. A journey that begins in hopelessness and shame for thousands of women in Ethiopia ends in a productive new life.
A panel discussion will follow the screening, featuring Patrick McCauley, Ph.D., assistant professor of religious studies, Marie Conn, Ph.D., professor of religious studies, and Vince Gallagher, author of The True Cost of Low Prices: The Violence of Globalization (Orbis Books, 2006).
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Dr. Marie Conn at 215.248.7044 or email mconn@chc.edu.
