Chestnut Hill College will host a fundraiser for Fonkonzé USA on Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in the Redmond Room of St. Joseph Hall.
Guests will enjoy cocktails and food, followed by a presentation by guest speaker Gerard Straub, film maker and founder of Pax et Bonum Communications, a company that produces films and books that foster compassion for those who suffer from hunger and injustice, while also inspiring genuine and respectful fraternity among all people, no matter one’s faith or lack of faith. Gerry will share bits of his film on Haiti, before and after the earthquake, Hidden in the Rubble. Representatives of Fonkozé will report on the impact of the funds raised last year, and what Fonkozé plans for the coming year.
Fonkozé is Haiti's bank for the organized poor and Haiti's largest micro-finance organization. Their mission is to build the economic foundations for democracy in Haiti by providing the rural poor with the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty.
Tickets are 65 dollars per person, and donations are also accepted. For more information or to reserve tickets, please contact Leigh Carter, lcarter@fonkozé.com or call 202.628.9033.
