Architect Horace Trumbauer (1868–1938) was a prominent American architect known for a wide range of residential, commercial, and civic structures that he designed in and around the Philadelphia area. “The Philadelphia Area Architecture of Horace Trumbauer” showcases the architect’s most significant works, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Keswick Theatre, the Widener Building, Whitemarsh Hall, Lynnewood Hall, and Ardrossan.
Rachel Hildebrandt ’09 is a psychology major at Chestnut Hill College with special interests in architecture and history. A Philadelphia native, Ms. Hildebrandt collaborated with the Old York Road Historical Society to study and propagate the history of the communities along and adjacent to Old York Road. She has culled many of the vintage photographs in the book from the society’s collection of images.
