Edward Strauman, Ph.D., assistant professor of music at Chestnut Hill College will hold a colloquium and celebration of his recent Jazz album release on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 12:00-2:30 p.m. in the East Parlor, St. Joseph Hall. The topic of Dr. Strauman’s lecture will be “Thinking in Jazz.” Chestnut Hill College is located at 9601 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia.

Dr. Strauman will be speaking about some of the conventional components in jazz music (Blues, Improvisation, Swing, etc.) and will be offering insights into how to interpret and utilize these elements in music. A CD with a compilation of Dr. Strauman’s work, which contains original music from 3 of his recordings, will be available for purchase.
