The Chestnut Hill College Music Department presents “Guys and Dolls” on Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. in the College Auditorium located at 9601 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia.
Set in the 1950s, “Guys and Dolls” tells the story of Nathan Detroit, a prominent New York City gambler desperate to find the money to pay for his floating crap game. He bets Sky Masterson, a fellow gambler, a thousand dollars that he won’t be able to take a local Salvation Army girl, Sarah Brown, to Cuba. While Sky is off trying to convince Sarah to join him, Nathan clashes with Adelaide, his fiancé of 14 years. This comedy, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling, is entertaining and fun for all ages.
