CHEFS WHO CARE MINIMIZES FOOD INSECURITY FOR OVER
3,000 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY EACH YEAR
For fourteen years now, CHEFS WHO CARE has been a popular, monthly,
and volunteer-run fundraising event for Community Services Agency
and our Food & Nutrition Center.
If you dine out at least once a month, or are a member of group
that meets or socializes once a month looking for a unique event,
we ask you to consider one of the CHEFS WHO CARE dinner nights.
There are NO speeches and NO appeals for more money. It's just a
night out for a good cause:
"Children who come from food insecure homes or who are hungry are
more likely to get sick, have problems in school, experience
trouble getting along with peers, and show higher levels of anxious
behavior. At these children mature into adulthood, our society
will feel the effects of their deprivation in the form of higher
rates of school failure, greater health care costs, and lost
workforce productivity." (Children's Defense Fund, 2004)
That's why we ask you to consider stepping up to the plate this
month at our CHEFS WHO CARE dinner. Your participation will make a
big difference in minimizing food insecurity for many.
Just ask one of the 3,000 individuals who "shop" and receive food
from our Food & Nutrition Center. That's one out of every 25
residents of Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills who are
fed from the over of 1 ton of food we distribute every business day!
*
Fifty percent (50%) of the proceeds are contributed to the support
of Community Services Agency and our Food and Nutrition Center.
