We're going to try something a little bit different this time. I've been racking my brains trying to come up with a new photowalk route. I've also been racking my brains trying to include Chatham and Belmont in those routes. Finally, my wife said, just do those. And that's what we'll do! We'll meet at Chatham, walk around the manor and then drive over to Belmont to tour that as well. If you only want to go to one that's fine (We'll be at Belmont by about 3:30 if you plan on meeting us there).
There should be plenty of parking at both Chatham and Belmont. Chatham is free. If you would like to tour the inside of Chatham you may but that won't be a part of main photowalk. Belmont is free to tour the grounds but if you would like to enter the house or gallery, they do charge (not sure if they allow photography in the house or not).
Depending on how things play out, we may stay all in one group or we may wander around the premises. Both have large grounds so there will be plenty of walking but I doubt we will get too seperated from each other.
I estimate we'll spend an hour, maybe an hour and a half at each place. I've added 15 minutes to the time to allow for travel between. Since it's along River Road we shouldn't have too much traffic nor should anyone get lost.
The weather will likely be warm but you never know, so dress accordingly. Please be respectful of the grounds.
Both Chatham and Belmont make for great portrait backgrounds. If you have any family or friends who want their picture taken it is a great place. But warn them as they might have half a dozen other photographers taking their pictures as well.
E-mail me if you have any questions.
Hope you can make it. :)
