Most people feel they're just being introduced to Charlie Murphy. They know him as the guy who became a house hold name in a very successful second season on the three time Emmy nominated CHAPPELLE'S SHOW; the hottest and most talked about show on television. The show saw a steady increase in ratings when "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories - Rick James and Prince skits aired. According to a VARIETY article on April 11, 2004, the show hit record highs with a 5.6/18 rating, the highest on Comedy Central in seven years! Plus, Paramount pulled off one of the biggest coups of the year when Chappelle's Show surpassed "Friends" and "Sex and the City" to become the top-selling TV title of the year with $4.5 million in DVD sales! This was all due to Mr. Murphy in no small part. Charlie Murphy is not a new comer. He's been on this journey for 17 years, working with actors such as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aeilo , Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Basset, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr., in his last film "The Kid Who Loved Christmas". He has been featured in a plethora of films, including New Line Cinema's "KINGS RANSOM", Fox Searchlight's "ROLL BOUNCE", Chris Rock's Hip Hop Parody classic "CB4", Spike Lee's "JUNGLE FEVER" & "MO' BETTA BLUES", Eddie Murphy's "HARLEM NIGHTS" & VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN, for which Charlie was also credited as a writer. His other writing credits include a remake of "THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN" for Imagine, and "PAPER SOLDIERS" for Rockafella Films (JAY-Z). Most recently, he wrote "TALES OF THE DOGG" an animated pilot for Snoop Dogg and MTV, "NORBIT" for Eddie Murphy and Dreamworks. Steven Spielberg bought the latter upon first sight.
