Charlene Brooks is bringing not just her voice and humor to the Skokie Theatre in December, but her heritage as well.
“Life Stinks!”, and other things my mother taught me.., is the culmination of years of theater, club and cabaret shows singing classic Broadway and jazz. “I love working with the audience, and have discovered that we all share similar family stories, no matter what our ethnicity”. The card-playing "aunts", Meyer the butcher, Sam the shoe-maker, and Mom, the funniest woman you'll ever meet (too bad she doesn't have a sense of humor), these and other over-the-top characters of her family and friends are the inspiration for some of the funniest songs and stories you’ve ever heard.
