Surviving And Moving Forward: The SAMFund for Young Adult Survivors of Cancer will honor its first grant and scholarship recipients at its 1st annual Celebration of Life gala and reception on June 15th, 2006, at the State Room (60 State St).
The SAMFund€™s mission is to assist cancer survivors in the United States between the ages of 17 and 35 with their transition to a successful post-treatment life. The organization was co-founded by two-time cancer survivor Samantha M. Eisenstein as a tribute to those who have battled with cancer, as well as to those who have supported them through their fight. Ms. Eisenstein, cancer-free for almost 6 years, is currently pursuing an MBA in Mission-Driven Management from Brandeis University€™s Heller School for Social Policy and Management, and is a 28-year old resident of Boston.
At the reception, Larry Lucchino, CEO of the Boston Red Sox and himself a two-time survivor of cancer, will present the awards to The SAMFund€™s recipients, who will be attending the event from California, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
The awards ceremony and dinner reception will include a sports and entertainment silent auction and raffle, as well as cocktails and hors d€™oeurves throughout the evening.
Tickets to attend are $100 each and sponsorships range from $1,200 to $10,000. You can make a reservation on-line at www.thesamfund.org. All proceeds from this event go directly to The SAMFund€™s grants and scholarships program.
