Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians
Traveling Exhibition
Women have always been healers, yet when medicine became established as a formal profession in Europe and America, women were shut out. They waged a long battle to gain access to medical education and hospital training. Since then, women have overcome prejudices and discrimination in every area of the profession. This exhibition honors some of the extraordinary women who have studied and practiced medicine over the years and in the process transformed our world.
This exhibit opens to the public on March 6th, 2007 and will remain open through Friday, April 13th, 2007. It’s free and open to the public during normal library business hours. For tours and programs or more information about the exhibit, please call 313-833-4042 or visit our website at www.detroitpubliclibrary.org.
